02/04/11 - If you scroll all the way to the bottom you will notice that there are 11 releases in all. SBS027-Bipolar Soldier is the latest edition to the stacks of recordings in process. Sometimes I think I should just consolidate them all under like 5 releases total but each one represents a specific mind frame I am in. Like 2009 and Bipolar Soldier could easily be under one "album" instead of two different releases. They where recorded under extremely different mind sets and moods though. They are segregated by though and circumstance. None the less, everything is here, seperated or consolidated; it's all here.

01/07/11 - So I havnt put anything up yet. I have been recording like 5 different LPs over the past year. I am hoping they see the light of day before the end of 2012. This includes a doom metal album called "Green Wizard" a covers album called "Cover Your Ass" and a straight up rock album called "Go Back To The City Bitch." I think there's also a shoe gaze type thing as well as a electronic thing to. I dont know. Its all waiting for lyrics and vocals.

09/11/11 - Well Im gonna say fuck it and finally just put everything up. If it isnt finished, so be it. Im going to put everything Ive been working on up. Some of the tracks are incomplete. Some of the tracks are complete. Some are half assed attempts as a specific project I havnt followed through on. None the less, Im going to put it all up on the site. I will complete the incompleted songs soon enough but if anything, you can see them as they are now and how they end up being developed.

03/15/11 - As you can see not much has happened here in the past year. I actually record alot of songs during the year as I have a pseudo-recording studio at my disposal. I start on things and I never seem to finished them though. Alot of the songs have gone to the other bands I have been in also, like The Larroquettes and The End Is Now. I've probably recorded over 2 LPs worth of material in 2010 but as the other bands (I give my songs to) struggle to get shit together and play out (line up changes, etc), none the songs see the light of day or will see the light of day a year from now. As I just found out my job will soon be lost to another corporate CEO bonus, so I feel now is the time to do something I've always wanted to do. That is to record a new CD worth of songs, get them sounding great and promote it! The end result would be to assemble a full band of willing and able parties to assist in playing the songs live. Dont get me wrong, I love the other bands I play with big time and this by no means I am quitting the other bands. I want to play the music I put together by myself for once though and see what happens. This is a dream of mine I've never followed through on.
As of yesterday (03/14/11) I have 6 songs ALMOST finished. Most importantly, I have finally nailed down a style of my own. I am easily influenced to record a certain style of music, dependant upon what bands I am into at the time. I never listen to anything that I cant get into 110% and it always leaks over to my own recordings somehow. I've been really into Whiskeytown and CCR lately but as it turns out, my natural style of output in the latest recordings has been very Britpop influenced. This is good! This means that my current output is coming straight from my brain and not from an immediate outside source. Ive always been a band of British and Europeon style rock'n'roll and I believe this style has leaked it way into my brain. I am calling the new project Bipolar Soldier. The name is kinda about me and kind of details how I feel about life in general. None the less, I finally want to do this....MY WAY!

04/23/10 - Shit is finally rolling and a new recording, tentively dubbed City Boy has been started. The City Boy session arrive on the heel of a new focus on guitar playeing and layering of keys and other instruments. Very very inspired as of lately by listening to lots of old rock'n'roll jams from the 1960's and 70's. I like the guitar. Its fun to play. - Paul

01/20/10 - I've been super busy. My girlfriend, Mariah, grouped together some friends and recorded The Jesus and Mary Chain covers. Everyone who participated chose a JAMC song they liked and we recorded them at SBSG Sound Lab. "I Love Rock'n'Roll," "I Hate Rock'N'Roll," "In A Hole," "Head On," and 1 other song in which the title escapes my mind at the moment. None the less, The songs are being mixed and should be ready to post by March. This is only the first installment of the JAMC covers project so stay tuned for other good stuff.
Beyond all that, I have been recording more PHD tunes without vocals. I lay the vocals and then end up scrubbing them. I als have been busy recording other bands and have been playing drums in a new band called, The Larroquettes. There will be a shit load of things to come so stay tuned for sure! - Paul

Paul (PHD) has spent allot of time recording. Since June of 1994 Paul has recorded hours upon hours of "stuff." You can call it music, you can call it crap, you can call it comedic, you can called it "not so funny," or you can just call it what you call it.
The 1990's where a time of growth for Paul. Much, if not all of the 1990's where spent growing musically, finding his feet as well as his head. During this time of personal and musical growth, Paul acquired the skills to use a Tascam 4-track recorder and eventually moved up to a Tascam 8-track. The analog cassette hiss proves to be essential to the body of these songs. There are in fact a few recordings made on digital units courtesy of a studio or a friend’s mini disk recorder.
Paul spent most of the 1990's unemployed, spending alot of time dreaming about playing music for a living,
instead of interviewing at Office Team or Manpower for temp work. Some mornings, Paul would decide to not go to his shitty temp job. The phone would ring off the hook all morning, but Paul was sleeping because he was up all night (till 8AM) holed away in his room with headphones on, propping a microphone up to a small Gorilla practice amp. All this to record fresh guitar lines for some song. Paul hated doing things he hated to do and still does, yet there is that inevitable responsibility of trying to "get ahead" in life, thus paying the rent and being able to afford more recording gear. Paul has grown up quite a bit since the 1990's, yet he is still trying to make a living playing music. Thanks to today’s technology, Paul now has a very visible platform to display his work, which is what you are looking at now.
Paul thinks it’s stupid to talk about himself in the 3rd person and apologizes to you. - Paul
