Suicide By Suit

12/09/09 - The Sleepy Kissers have called it a day.Recording other bands and starting new projects have taken priority which will not give the time needed to start TSK up again. Maybe someday the 10 tracks written in the past couple of months will see the light of day but as it stands they will most likley become PHD tracks. Thank you for all who have commited time and effort to this band. Also, to all who have supported TSK since 2006. You are all the best and will not be forgotten. It saddens me to put the final nail in the coffin but its been a long time coming. I can go on about how much I love everyone but if you are my friend, you already know this. Cheers and stay tuned to all the new music coming out of this site!- Paul

With a gloriously sloppy, grungy and beer-sodden sound reminiscent of some of the best Midwestern indie-rock of the ‘80s (heavy on the Replacements) as well as punk giants like the Stooges and more recent garage-band buzzes such as the Hives, the Sleepy Kissers have been honing their brand of fuzz since 2006, when the group was formed by bassist/vocalist Mariah, guitarist Mike, drummer Nick and guitarist/vocalist Paul. (No surnames necessary when a group rocks this simply but righteously.)

ITunes fan review 09/10/07: "The Sleepy Kissers remind me of late eighties / early nineties 7 Seconds but the good albums of course. For fans of Out Da Shizzie and Soulforce Revolution. Far from being generic, the songs on this EP are the first round of songs of many titles these guys have in their repertoire, yet these are not so rudimentary, but raw and undeterred. I believe The Sleepy Kissers may be one of the most refreshing rock'n'roll bands to come out of Chicago in a long time." - by Susan Wyld Sides

ITunes fan review 07/27/07: "High quality punk rock'n'roll from the Windy City. When I say that it's very Chicago, I mean that in the best way possible. Something in the water there... Anyway, this ep will not disappoint fans of the "Chicago Style" of p-rock. Get on board. Oh, and I hear they're devastatingly attractive." - by Grampa Ugly Radio
Meet The Sleepy Kissers on a personal level:

Mariah: Bass, Vocals
Hailing from Evanston, IL., Mariah has enjoyed local music since high school. The days of sneaking alcohol into the Fireside are long gone, but they are remembered fondly. Her life was changed when she received “Combat Rock” by The Clash as a present from her older brother. Subsequently, she is proud to have met and interviewed Joe Strummer. This encounter not only further solidified her love of The Clash; it also reiterated their status as a truly grassroots band that made it big. She has held a wealth of jobs since graduating from the Columbia College Chicago Film Department. Mariah recently ended a 4 year sentence dealing with the motorcycle industry. No, she doesn’t ride.

Mike: Guitar, Vocals
Being from Oklahoma, Mike finds solace in the simple pleasures. He truly believes there isn't a problem in the world that deafening rock music and copious amounts High Life can solve.....well except for G.W. being a complete dick, the world ain't perfect. Mike hails from deep in the Oklahoma plaines where he has witnessed first hand Americana at it's very best. Mike lays a think blues sound on the songs and an experienced hand he lends to bringing shit loads of soul to the rhythm.

Nick: Drums, Vocals
Nick is originally from Michigan and is proud of its resemblance to a mitten (it only makes sense for such a cold state to be shaped that way). He is also deeply afraid of spiders. In moving to Chicago, Nick brought along his taste for the finer things: music, drums, and the lack of space to play them in. He started playing drums after watching Blink 182 perform in Detroit years back, finding inspiration in Travis Barker's heavy sound and aggressive style. Musically, Nick taps his fingers to anything ranging from The Smiths, to Wu Tang, to Say Anything, and loves beating the hell out of a drum set. Lastly, Nick thinks that a lot of stuff is cool.

Paul: Vocals, Guitar and Harmonica
Paul has spent many years paying his dues with The Mashers and The Plastik Explosives. He still holds the title of one of the most energetic guitarists/vocalists around Chicago—he has the scars and walking cast to prove it. Raised on a solid dose of Van Halen, Nugent, Rush, Bob Seger, Judas Priest and Black Sabbath, rock'n'roll was ingrained into Paul's mind, deep in the formative years of his life. You remove rock'n'roll from the picture and you might as well remove Paul too!
